Ship design 101

I don't like ship design, so after a failed search on the internet for a simple guide to ship design, I was forced to figure it out myself. So for fellow new gamers, I suggest the following Ship Design 101 guide. My easy steps are as follow

- In the panel, you have different size of ship. Some gives bonus but it is important in end game only. Hence build 3 types of ships early in game:

- Attack
- Armor
- Assault

On the attack ship, you install the 3 types of weapons, Kin, Beam, and missiles. You must specify the range so choose as you wish but be certain that you have a type of weapon for each range. While respecting the ship size, you can certainly install 3x weapons of each type and than 1x defense of each type. So attack ship will have a ratio 3/1.

For armor ship, same as before but a ratio 1/3, you can reduce early on the ratio and include the option "armor" and later the engine upgrade.

Assault is a specialized ship that use WMD. Spend no space on anything but the support module for troops or bombs. Later you can install bombers and add other type of WMD. Call this fleet a support fleet and be certain to move it with a real offensive fleet for it's protection

With these 3 ship design, you can start conquering the galaxy. When you learn new tech, you simply use the "modify" option of your ships design and use the "auto-upgrade" feature. Your ratio above will be respected and the design will be updated with the latest weapons.

As you move on in the game, you may be able to install "tonnage". This is a must have tech since you can increase your ship size. That is a manual change you must make to your design but once on, simply auto-upgrade. Your ratio will be respected but you will have more power.

Frequently update your design with "auto-upgrade" because many tech may affect your fleet. It's simple fast and no worries for you.

Now if you enjoy ship design, you can go through the little details and creates 15 class of ship with different variations, but if like me you are not a power gamer that want to play 250 hours on a specific game, you will be fine enough to win against the AI.

Once you updated your design, remember to "retrofit" your existing fleet to bring them up to date with the improvements. This is where you will blow your dust but it worth it.

With techs, you get bigger ship designs. The same ratio will apply and you just get more power for a ship.

You can use fancy name, but since I am for effiency, I use names such as "Small Attack", "Medium Armor", "Big Assault". First name size, second name functions.

No more worries now about design, it is efficient, easy and you can focus on your empire management and crush these aliens.
